Activities

- Identify and select (3-5) fragments of your home country's
fiction
literature, which describe the relation of people to
land, soil, and ownership. Prioritize fragments used in your own
primary or secondary education. Find English translations, or translate
the main content.
- Identify and read articles on the national real estate
market, which discuss foreign direct investment in landed property.
Note the main issues discussed and the intentions of discussants and
other stakeholders, including parliamentary parties.
- Investigate and describe the information flow, which
results in public statistics on or related to land and immobile
property, mining, agricultural production units, housing units, and
construction. Note the content of the statistics, especially as regards
the main stakeholders of the real estate market. Identify and where
needed translate into English the
land-related unit definitions of the mentioned statistics.

Deliverables

- A report (10-15 p), which describe the main
stakeholders regarding land issues in your home country, their
perceptions of land-related problems, the statistics available to
inform discussion on these problems, and your opinion on main problems
and the handling of one of them, e.g. the taxation issue.

Outcome: Having completed the study element, the
student is able to

identify national perceptions of land and
immobile property and main stakeholders, and to identify and discuss a
land-related problem.
